“Chang Can Dunk (2023)” is a Disney+ original sports / coming-of-age film about a 16-year-old Asian American high schooler who bets the school basketball star that he can dunk by Homecoming. The film blends nostalgia (’90s music, Kobe sneakers, Pokémon cards) with themes of identity, perseverance, and friendship.
I had the honor of designing the opening titles—rugged, bold, basketball-inspired type—and the closing credits letterings, evoking the doodles and sketches you'd find in a teenager’s notebook. Working with the talented team at Hey Beautiful Jerk, we animated those sequences to feel like part of the film’s high school world.
